*** Plantation homes for dayyys: The Myrtles and Greenwood Plantation, complete with a haunted mirror and hotel cats***
You’re probably wondering why this recipe is suppose to be southern. It’s the seasonings I used. This isn’t a wide known recipe like gumbo or jambalaya- I just like rice, peas and carrots, and experimenting in the kitchen. 🙂 While I was making the mixture I forgot to put in two eggs, but I like it without the eggs. I hope you guys like this recipe and choose to make it and even put your own twist on it!
Happy cooking! XX Corinne
Good Morning everyone! Happy Sunday. For today’s blog post I decided to do tell y’all what I got up to this week.
First off, this coming week is Mardi Gras. All the schools in Louisiana get off for the week to go to parades and whatnots. For my family it just means we get a week off to spend at home. My sister when to a parade and caught a lot of beads, as you can see. To me this holiday is very boring. It is always rainy, cold, or humid. The things you catch off the floats are usually thrown away within 2 months. BUT, we do get a week off from school to catch up on sleep. Oh and don’t forget the shootings that happen in New Orleans during the parade magic. Fun stuff.
Second off, yesterday was Valentine’s Day. I hope everyone got lots of candy! We went to a restaurant to eat lunch then came home to a few presents. I read a cute post on Twitter talking about how a day to show love is stupid because you should show your love everyday. I believe that is true, but it can’t hurt to get that special someone a present or candy.
Third off, being a junior in highschool sucks. There is so much pressure to do well on the ACT or SAT to get into a good college. So to make my score on the ACT go up I got a book with words to help boost my vocabulary, a book to help with writing essays, and a book to help with my AP Government class. Will these actually help me? Who knows. At least I can say I tried.
Fourth off, I got sushi on Friday. I love sushi so much and it made my day so much better to have it at lunch. Everyone was drooling over it. My favorite roll is the Bang Bang Shrimp Roll from Magumi’s. Recently I have heard people discussing how our “conception” of Chinese food isn’t the real deal. Honestly I don’t care. I will still eat American-Chinese food all the same because to me, it still tastes pretty awesome. What do you guys feel, good or not good? Yes, it is very bad for you body wise, but soul wise it is very good for you. 😉
Fifth off, I’m just going to try to do my best to write and take more photos. Trying to everything is hard. Just right now I am sitting in a health club writing this blog post on my laptop. Now this is multi- tasking. Kind of hypocritical if you really think about it because I am sitting down in a health club when I should be working out. BUT, this post would never get done if I didn’t do it now.
If I go to a parade(which I doubt) I will take photos for you guys who don’t live in Louisiana so you can see all the, umm, “magic” of crap being thrown at you. 🙂
Take care. XX Corinne
October is the month that officially starts fall for me. It is now time for cider, boots, and wind. I hope fall in Louisiana will be cool this year. Not freezing so that you can’t grip trick or treat candy, but cool enough to were you need a sweater and boots. I heard people up north already are wearing thick sweaters and jeans! My mom started buying pumpkins September 1st so you know we love fall. Fall is so magical. It isn’t cold cold like winter but it isn’t sweltering like summer. This summer has been particularly hot this year. It has sucked. I hate the heat. Shivering is better than sweating. Fall colors are gorgeous. The ground turns red, orange, yellow, and brown from the leaves. Fall is a comforting time of the year. I hate being scared so I leave the haunted houses to my friends but other than the scare factor I love fall.
I hope to get lots of Twix candy at Halloween! 😊
What is your favorite part of Fall?
I haven’t posted on my blog in a while because I have been so busy! The swim team I coach for started on last Monday and the YMCA pool I lifeguard for opened last Saturday. I have literally worked everyday after school. I finished up my Swim Instructor course on Wednesday so I am now officially certified! I also have my exam for my Environmental Science AP course on this up and coming Monday and I am VERY nervous.
ANYWAY, getting back to the original idea of this post, these are my April and May favorites. I already did a past post on the dream catcher but I decided to make it an anklet because the string was to long for my wrist but I still wanted to wear it. I’m going to laugh when it leaves a tan line at the end of summer. 🙂
Chance Chanel is my favorite perfume. It does not smell “old” and is very light. Chanel No. 5 is an older smell now but still is a classic. When I get older I hope to buy a Chanel Bicolor Cardigan but right now I don’t have enough money, unfortunately (they range from $1000- $5000 depending on where you buy it).
The cowboy boots were an Easter present from my mom. I’ve never had cowboy boots or anything of the kind and since I am going to a school with no “uniforms” it is a good idea to stock up on clothes early. The rain boots were an early Easter present. I love flowers and these are just adorable! I always see girls at school, on no uniform days, wearing combat boots and DocMartins. I love these because they are a cross between them and also incorporate one of my favorite things. It’s also very rainy here in Louisiana lately.
Beach Babe makes my hair very light. Most products that you put in your hair makes it feel very heavy. I love the way it smells! It smells like vanilia and cake, which is amazing!
I hope you y’all like my post! What are your favorites?
Today my Environmental Science AP class took a field trip to New Orleans to visit some gardens. We went to Longue Vue House and Gardens as well as the Botanical Gardens. It was so much fun! Of course I took a lot of pictures of flowers(mainly of my friends and me, oops). The gardens were absolutely beautiful! The Longue Vue House looked like a home straight out of a Jane Austin novel. Unfortunately I didn’t get a good picture of the home but I got pictures of the flowers in the gardens. I defiantly recommend visiting the gardens in New Orleans because they are actually lovely! I had so much fun even though it was so cold! I can not wait to visit again.
